The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good

  • My direct deposit for my new bank finally went through this week which is awesome!
  • I've been really enjoying creepypastas lately and I found a youtuber that reads them outloud
  • Peppermint is really enjoying the toys that came in her pet box. It's great because I LOVE spoiling her!
  • Saltine crackers are my new best friend >.<

The Bad

  • I've been reading a lot of creepypastas lately and... some of them are just bad. Like really really bad.
  • My tummy sickness has made work really hard on me. Especially since I haven't really eaten for a few days and I work around food
  • Also since my tummy has been bothering me I haven't really been playing Pokemon =(

The Ugly

I've always had a really week stomach as a kid. In fact I remember being taken home from school and staying home from school because of some sort of stomach virus and stuff like that more than anything else. Plus even though I know I should eat something I tend not to since I'm afraid of throwing up. Of course not eating anything winds up making me MORE sick to my stomach. I know you might say I should take medicine or something but medicine winds up making me throw up too, unless its administered as a shot or suppository.

This Weeks Favorites

Book: Food Network Magazine
Even though it's not a book, I really enjoy the Food Network magazine. I subscribed to it recently and getting it is really something to look forward to. I just wish I had more time and money to indulge in making things from it.

Movie/TV Show: Beyond the Boundary
Another anime has made my favorites list but that shouldn't be too surprising. Anyway Beyond the Boundary is a new anime and it's spectacular. The art is wonderful. The characters quirky and for the most part charming. The storyline is captivating. If you like supernatural anime with a hint of boy meets girl, you should check this one out.

Beauty: Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez
Like I mentioned earlier this week I had gone clothes shopping with my boyfriend and we went to K-Mart. K-Mart is the only place that I know sells the Dream Out Loud brand and I love almost all the stuff. I'm kind of picky buying clothes but it's not hard for me to pick up something I like from that collection.

Food: Spaghetti with Eggs
Strangely enough my boyfriend likes to eat spaghetti with eggs. It sounds kind of weird, or at least it did to me, but it's strangely delicious. If you ever in a bind over what to cook you should try this. It's cheap and easy to make plus it offers a lot of room for creativity. I mean scrambled eggs, spaghetti sauce, and pasta! That screams "make me to you tastes!"
Misc: Saltine Crackers
Technically I'm sort of cheating by putting food twice but with my tummy problems this week, saltine crackers have become my best friend. It sort of makes me crave some soup too @.@

Random Thoughts

  • I know I've been kind of lacking on the posts but I've been kind of sicky and stressed. I'll try to do better @.@
  • My direct deposit finally went through for my new bank! It's about time! I was super worried that it wouldn't go through for another week.
  • I got some new clothes at KMart with my boyfriend this week. I can't wait to wear them.
  • I really don't want to go to work today and close since I'm feeling really sick but I feel bad calling in because then they'd have to find someone else. I'm too nice!

World War Z Review

About a month ago I watched the movie World War Z. This review was a long time coming and I kind of haven't been able to sit down and actually write it.

World War Z was lightly based on the novel by Max Brooks. Well, at least I believe it's lightly based since it only seems to be based on the idea of the book based on what I've read so far.

At the beginning of the movie Gerry, a former government employee, is stuck in traffic with his family, made up of his wife and two young daughters. While there in traffic a police motorcycle drives past, taking out their side mirror while police helicopters fly above. Gerry, then gets out of the car to investigate when another police motorcycle drives by and the officer yells at him to get back into the car. However before the officer can say anything else a garbage truck barrels down the road killing the officers and creating a path through the traffic which Gerry uses to get out of the area. Before they can get too far they drive into the center of the chaos and wind up hit by a car.

The following scene is complete pandemonium. People running, people screaming, people being attacked by other people acting like rabid animals. During the chaos Gerry and his family manage to hijack an abandoned RV and escape the city. Soon after they stop at a grocery to get supplies before bunkering down at an apartment building where they are helped by a hispanic family with a young son. There Gerry gets in contact with a friend from his old job at the UN. His friend asks for his location so he can send a helicopter so that they can be taken to a US Navy Vessel for safety, but there's a catch.

When he arrive it is suggested that what has happened is a zombie outbreak caused by a virus. In order to stop it from spreading further his friend tells Gerry he was brought there was to help Dr Fassbach, who is a disease specialist, find the source of the outbreak so that they may create some sort of cure. Gerry reluctantly agrees to help when it is suggested that he and his family will be sent back into the chaos if he refused. From there with a group of military personnel and the doctor they set of to follow the various clues to find the cure.

Now for what I thought. I personally loved the movie. I kind of liked the chaos it showed with the start of a zombie apocalypse. It felt different from the sort of chaos in Resident Evil or The Walking Dead though you could probably guess that's what Raccoon City or Atlanta looked like when the zombie outbreak started. People on their phones, stuck in traffic, no clue of what's to come. Another thing I liked was the zombies themselves. They weren't shuffling idiots that only reacted to sound. They could see. They could run. They could basically climb onto each other and make a huge zombie ladder to get over the wall of Jerusalem. These zombies actually scared me and made me question how well I'd survive in a zombie apocalypse.

As for things I didn't like. There are none and even if there was it's nothing significant enough that I actually remember. So, long story short it is a must see along with some of my other favorite zombie shows and movies.

The Week Ahead

Two more weeks left in October! It kinda sad but I'm also pretty happy. Halloween is coming up soon and then next month is Thanksgiving! My favorite holiday! Anyway here's what's up to come;

  • My Dr. D's Pet Package was supposed to ship last week. I didn't get the tracking number but I'm sure it should come sometime soon
  • I'm getting new clothes with my boyfriend this week! I need them @.@
  • I think me and my boyfriend will start doing double battles in Pokemon soon. It'll be really fun since I've never done those before.
  • Even though it's not this week, I can't wait till Halloween. I'm really excited to go to a haunted house at this local mall. I would rather go to Halloween Horror Nights but that's not too realistic right now.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good

  • I am really really loving Pokemon this week. I mean really. I know I've mentioned it a few times already but I've already beaten most of the stuff and am still enjoying myself. But now that I'm almost done I can finally get back to my life
  • All the stuff that I tried to pay for recently finally went through but I had to use my credit card because my bank card still wont work
  • PopSugar finally wrote me back about the bracelet that broke. They said that they would send me a new one

The Bad

  • Birch Box is really annoying. I keep getting emails from them to subscribe by 'x' date to get the October Box so when I wait it out to subscribe for the November Box they still off the October one! I even emailed them and they just told me to wait till November to join the wait list again WHATEVER! I don't even want the Birch Box
  • I really hate waiting for boxes to come. I even hate waiting for the month to end so I can get a new box. Damn my impatience...

The Ugly

The other night I had come home pretty late and went to put some dishes away. My dad's dog was barking and growling outside so I went to go check on her. When I went outside though I could have SWORN I saw someone in our back yard. It was really scary! I even woke my parents up and I was shaking. But when my dad went to check outside he didn't see anything but a huge rat. Oh well, better safe than sorry. Right?

Love with Food October 2013

This week I got my Love with Food box. It was kind of disappointing but that's just me and my taste.
Like last time I tried the food with my boyfriend so I could give two different views, even though for the most part we both almost always agree.

The first glance of the box was a nice one. The in formation card was super cute even if the information was a bit vague.

Kind Bar: The Kind Bar was pretty good. My boyfriend liked it so did I. It had a lot of different nuts and stuff in it. It had walnuts, almonds, and things like that. I haven't really seen these bars around but I'd definitely like to eat them again.
Toasted Coconut Chips: These Toasted coconut chips were AMAZING! I loved them and my boyfriend loved them. I wish I could buy more but like I mentioned before they don't sell them anywhere close by to me. Plus on Amazon they're sort of expensive. Anyway I thought they were perfectly crunchy and delicious. My boyfriend thought they were a bit too crunchy but we both still loved them. We polished it off in like five minutes.
Organic Hard Candies: The hard candies were pretty good. We got all pear flavored ones. They're supposed to be organic but they didn't seem like anything special. They were good but they were like all other hard candies.
Glee Gum: The gum was okay. My boyfriend didn't try this one, I did it by myself. They were sweet and pretty good. I'm not really a fan of fruity gum but meh.
Pixo Pearls: I haven't tried this before and I actually have no idea what on Earth these are supposed to be for. They're supposed to be apple cider vinegar pearls? Plus mine came mostly melted , seeing as they don't look like the ones in the info card.
New World CaveMan Cookies: These were alright in the first bite bite afterwards they were way too sweet. My boyfriend didn't like them at all because he said they taste like cinnamon but I didn't think so. It had some nice crunchy bits too since they have pumpkin seeds in it.
Chocolate Pizelle Chips: These were really really really bad. They had no taste at first and the more I chewed it the less I liked it. My boyfriend didn't like them either. If I ever had to eat these again I would not.
Happy Squeeze: The juice was okay. It had a nice taste at first but after awhile I got sick of the taste. It's supposed to be blueberry, apple and purple carrot flavored. I didn't know that there was a such thing as purple carrots. It's supposed to be really healthy but again after awhile it was pretty bad.
Over all looking back, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I actually like the box except for a couple of things. If you like trying out different snacks then you should definitely try this box. They also gave me a couple of coupons including one for a lean cuisine meal.

This Weeks Favorites

Book: Any Cook Book
Lately I've been really into cooking lately. I'm so glad I have so many cookbooks that I can choose from to cook from. I didn't post anything too specific because there's waaaay to many to choose!
Movie/T.V.: Log Horizon
There's been a new show that came out a couple of weeks ago called Log Horizon. I really like video game world type stories and shows so this was right up my alley. Plus so far it's been pretty light hearted. It also sort of reminds me of a story I was trying to write once.
Food: Dang Toasted Coconut Chips
These came in my Love with Food Box a couple of days ago and holy cow they were great! I would even like to get more but unfortunately they don't sell them anywhere close by. Thankfully my boyfriend says that his grandma can make ones even better than this.
Beauty: The Wet Brush
I really love the Wet Brush that I got in the PopSugar box. I honestly use it every day. It's much more gentle on me than my old brush even though I'll keep both. Once I get some sort of travel pouch I'll probably leave my Wet Brush in it since it's also slightly smaller than my other brush.
Misc: Juby Phonic

Juby Phonic is a youtuber that does English covers of Japanese songs. I absolutely love all of her stuff! 'Imagination Forest' (the video above) is one of my favorites and I hope you enjoy it. If you like it you should definitely check out her channel on youtube.

Random Thoughts

  • My Bulu Box and Love with Food Box came yesterday! How silly that I get a fitness box and snack box on the same day!
  • N finally got her 10 Storks Box! I'm so excited for her and I'm so glad she loves it
  • I already can't wait for November! How silly right?
  • I've been kind of slacking with the blog, I know, but I will get on things better this week now that I'm getting Pokemon fever out of my system
I'll do my best to post up the reviews today or tomorrow!

Glazed Pork

Last week I made Glazed Pork, which I pulled out of another cookbook. Fortunately for you all, however, I changed up the recipe a lot from the cookbook I got it from mainly that instead of using lamb like the recipe calls for I used pork.

First off you need to slice the pork thinly. Then you fry it on medium heat until it browns and remove it from the pan. In the oil and juice you just fried the pork in you add Italian style green beans and chopped green onions. After you fry it for awhile you add back the pork, add chopped garlic, lime juice, salt, pepper, chopped cilantro, honey, and sesame seeds or a seasoning that contains sesame seeds. Stir until the pork is well coated with the mixture.

Then viola! It's a quick and delicious dish that tastes amazing even with just a bit of white rice.

This Week Ahead

Wow! We're already half way through October. It's crazy how fast time goes by. It feels like just yesterday I was waiting for my PopSugar Box to arrive. Anyway here's what's to come (hopefully) in the week ahead.

  • My Love with Food Box shipped last week so if I'm lucky I'll get it soon!
  • Since we missed my mother-in-laws birthday maybe me and my Kitty will take her out on our day off. I hope we go somewhere good!
  • I can't wait to really sit down and play Pokemon on my days off! I can't stop thinking about playing at work
  • My Bulu Box AND Dr. D's Pet Package should be shipping this week plus I'll hopefully get off the BirchBox wait list this week so I can order it for November
Not the most exciting week ahead but there's still so much to look forward to!

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good

  • I am so happy Pokemon X & Y came out. It's the best Pokemon game I've ever played by far. And to think I was worried it would disappoint.
  • As you all know my PopSugar Box came this week! I was so happy to get it and though there were a lot of mixed opinions on it I thought it was great
  • Since I'm going to switch banks I'm going to get a Disney debit card. It's super cute and it offers a lot of perks!
  • I finally get to try Stitch Fix! Even though it won't come till November, it's still exciting and I can't wait!

The Bad

  • I somehow managed to lose my work hat! I've looked high and low and it's no where to be found.
  • Even though the PopSugar box DID come I felt it took way to long! But I'm just impatient I guess =p
  • Also the PopSugar box came with liquid eye liner which I suck at using! Oh well, guess it's time to learn
  • I tried to cancel my Skosh Box for next month but it turns out that it renewed itself before I could. So looks like another month for me.

The Ugly

My bank causes me a lot of trouble for no reason. For example I had changed my address about a couple of years ago then wanted to change it back but no matter how many times I go to them a lot of places don't take the zip code I changed it to. What the heck! My bank even tells me every single time that they fixed it but then it always says the zip code doesn't match up! Do your job bank! Grrr...

PopSugar Must Have October 2013 Review

This week I got my PopSugar Must Have Box after an agonizing wait. This was my first box so I have nothing to compare to but either way I loved it.
Even though many people didn't seem to like the box since it seems cheap I was won over and will without a doubt extend my subscription without a second thought.

Julep Char Nail Polish (It Girl)($14.00)/Freedom Polymer Top Coat($18.00): This box came with both a Julep polish and a top coat. I haven't used either yet but I really like Julep's polish so I will definitely use it on my next day off, From the bottle it looks like a bluish purple color. I don't really know if it's "me" but I'll find out.

On top of that I also got a coupon code for a free first Julep box free but I've already gotten one so I'll share it with you! Just go here and enter JULEPMUSTHAVE after filling out your style profile.
Jane Tran Bobby Pins($12.00): As I said in my "This Weeks Favorites" I really loved these bobby pins. In fact besides the cook book I was looking forward to these the most. I've been looking for bobby pins for a long time to keep my hair from getting too crazy at work and I lucked out with this months box.

The Wet Brush($14.00): I really enjoyed the wet brush because I have troublesome hair and like to brush it when I've just showered. The best part is that it's very gentle on my head without being useless.

Stich Fix $20 Credit: I was ecstatic to get the Stitch Fix gift card because I've been wanting to try it for a long while but didn't want to pay the $20 in case I didn't like it. But now here's my chance and it's set to ship in November.

Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet($45.00): The bracelet was crazy cute, though a bit pricey for what it is. I know I didn't have to pay for it straight but still. Anyway, it fit well. Not too big, not too small but for some reason the ends sort of unraveled the first day I used it. I emailed PopSugar about this but haven't heard back yet so I'll just have to see.

NYX Liquid Eye Liner($6.00): I just love eye liner even though I don't get to use it much. I'm also really happy I got the black instead of the brown. The only issue is I always mess up trying to use liquid liner! Oh well, I guess it's a good chance to learn.

NYX Smokey Shadow Palette ($7.00): I don't use eyeshadow. I don't know how to use eyeshadow. But then again I've always wanted to learn. So here's the perfect opportunity beside I like the group of colors.

The Crispery Halloween CrispyCake($3.95): I wound up sharing the crispy cake with my boyfriend and it was amazingly delish! It was way better than any rice crispy treat I've tasted in stores and I would love to get it again or even gift it to family and friends.

The Can't Cook Book by Jessica Seinfeld ($17.11) : This was what I was most looking forward to once I saw the spoilers. I love cooking and I'm great at it but I love having new cook books to spice things up a little. I flipped through it a little and the recipes look great! I can't wait to try them.

In total my first PopSugar Box came out to be worth $157.06 which is well over the $35 dollar price tag. I am actually a little surprised it was worth so much and I have to say it was very worth it since I know I will use (or try to) everything in the box.

Remember if you want to try the PopSugar Box before the prices hike up do it before November! Just click here and use the REFER5 code to get $5 off!

This Weeks Favorites

Book: The Nest: Newlywed Handbook
Even though I'm not married and I won't be for awhile I decided to pick up the Newlywed Handbook. I thought it was cute and a good edition for anyone really in a serious relationship. Plus it appeals to people of all kinds. It's not just a straight one way street where you have to do it one way or there's no hope. I don't read many books like this so I'm not sure if it's common but based on similar articles I've read it isn't so nice touch.
Movie/Show: Gossip Girl Season 6
This week the sixth and final season of Gossip Girl finally came out on Netflix. I have been waiting a long time for this season to come up so I was ecstatic to get the email that it was finally up. Compared to the last couple of Gossip Girl seasons this one is really shining through and I may like all of the characters more than I ever did before.
Food: China Buffet
This week my boyfriend took me out to eat. We ate at this buffet and I think this is going to become our little weekly tradition! Which is great since my boyfriend actually hates eating out.
Beauty: Jane Tran Bobby Pins
Even though my PopSugar box came yesterday I used the bobby pins immediately to take to work, since at work my hair gets a disheveled and makes me look like a crazy person. What I loved about this bobby pins is they didn't move or displace themselves which is always a huge problem I have with these things.

Misc: Pokemon X

With as much as I've talked about it the past 3 weeks were you really expecting something different? Anyway my lovely boyfriend stopped by Gamestop this morning, before work, to pick up these two gems then dropped mine off at my house. I've already started playing and from the first minute I was in love. Once I get far enough into the game I'll drop you guys a review!

Random Thoughts

It's been another busy week for me and I think I missed a couple of days but I'm not entirely sure. ._.

  • Pokemon X & Y Come out TOMORROW!!!! Even though I won't be able to play it until late at night (basically Sunday morning) I am still crazy excited for it!
  • I think my PopSugar box is teasing me! Even though it's been at the local post office since yesterday afternoon it's still expected to come tomorrow and the shipping status hasn't updated at all...
  • My Love with Food box shipped today. It's a day later than the website says it ships but that's fine since I'm still excited to get it!
  • I heard that there's going to be a new PopSugar Limited Edition box coming soon. I know the Limited Edition boxes are expensive ($100) but I'm thinking of maybe getting it? Who knows maybe after a few sneak peaks I'll decide

Oblivion Review

A few weeks ago I saw the movie Oblivion starring Tom Cruise (who I always confuse with Brad Pitt for some reason) and Morgan Freeman.

Oblivion is set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where all humans now live on Saturn's moon, Titan, because of the planet being destroyed by aliens that they call Scavengers (Scavs). Tom Cruise's character, Jack, is one of the only humans left on Earth along with his partner, Victoria (Vika). They are on Earth to make sure that the drones continue to run and to keep the generators, used for energy in Titan, protected from the Scav. During their time on Earth Jack has dreams about a mysterious woman that he feels he should know despite him and Vika having their memories wiped before the mission. Not only that but Jack has a constant wonderment about the world he has never know, which Vika seems to not care for, putting a strain on their relationship.

In the day time Jack goes down to Earth to patrol, repair drones, and to find any drones that are missing, while Vika stays in the command center (which is also their home) to act as the middleman between Jack and their mission commander. At night he comes back to their home in the clouds (I think it may have been on a mountain but I'm not quite sure) where he and Vika share a strangely cold yet sensual relationship with each other. One day however they find out that the Scavs are signaling some sort of vessel which later crash lands onto Earth. When Jack reaches the vessel he finds... other humans in sleep chambers. One of them being the very woman he has been dreaming of, leading him to find out that the world he knew wasn't the world they thought it was at all.

Now for my opinion. The plot itself was very interesting if not a bit tragic. It was slightly predictable but not in a bad way. In fact I had no qualms with the movie up until the end which I think could have been better. I won't explain my problem with it since it would spoil the movie a bit even though it's not THAT big of a spoiler point. I thought the concept of the movie was wonderful as well and there were certain parts I didn't expect. I thought the acting was wonderful. The cinematics were wonderful as well.

Overall it wasn't a spectacular movie. It was good and for awhile kept me wondering. Even when it was predictable it was enjoyable to watch. Like I said my only qualms was the end for two reasons; the villain was not what I expected in a kind of boring way and two the woman who Jack loved got the short end of the stick. Really if you're not into apocalyptic movies or sci-fi type movies this wouldn't be for you but otherwise it's worth a shot.

Tilapia Puttanesca

Last week I made a tilapia dish from the Italian All-Time Favorites Cook Book. It came out remarkably and I ate it with white rice. I won't post the recipe itself as it's in a published work already but here's a picture of how it came out!

It has tilapia, red onion, tomatoes, capers, garlic, and black olives. Maybe if I make a variation of it I'll post the recipe up. Or if you'd like to try it out just shoot me an email.

The Week Ahead

We're in the second week of October already! It feels like time is going so fast which is partly a good thing since I'm waiting for a lot this week.

  • My PopSugar Must Have Box shipped last week so if I'm lucky it should come within the next couple of weeks! (Remember if you want in on the PopSugar Must Have box you have till November to get it at the old price of $35! Even better if you use the REFER5 code to get $5 off!)
  • Also my Love with Food Box is supposed to ship sometime around the 10th which means I'll probably get that next week
  • Pokemon X & Y will finally be coming out THIS Saturday! That's extremely exciting for me. If I didn't have to work I'd stay home and play it all day
  • My stepmother's birthday is tomorrow and my mother in law's birthday is this Sunday so we're going to have a little get together. Hopefully I can get some pictures.
  • I've already ordered N's 10 Storks box so we'll see how that works out and hopefully she'll send me pics even if I can't review it myself.
What are you looking forward to this week? Maybe Pokemon, like myself, or did you jump onto the subscription box ship in time for this months boxes?

Fettucini Alfredo With Sausage

Earlier this week I made a pasta dinner for my boyfriend and his family. It's really simple and really inexpensive. Plus the recipe is very versatile.

First I added oil to the frying pan and heated it at medium heat. While it heated I chopped the sausage, washed the mushrooms, and chopped the onion. Once the pan was hot enough I added the ingredients and stirred often. While I did that I filled a pot with water, salt, and pepper then heated it to a boil. Once the water boiled I added the pasta. In a seperate sauce pan I added the alfredo sauce and heated it on low. Once the pasta is cooked and the mushrooms are soft it's ready to serve!

I made a variation of this a couple of days ago but as spaghetti using much more ingredients and of course a different sauce. So let me know how you did it! Or even if you decide to make the sausage fettucini too what did you add or take out to make it more you? I'm looking forward to hearing your takes on it!

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Good

  • My SkoshBox came this week! Which is really awesome because it came much sooner than I had expected it to! You can see my review here
  • Popped chips are surprisingly and amazingly delicious! I can't get enough of them! Looks like I have a new favorite snack.
  • My PopSugar Box shipped this week so if I'm lucky I'll be getting it within the next couple of weeks. I'm really excited for it. Hopefully my first month is a good one.
  • My wonderful boyfriend got me a macbook! This means my old, busted laptop can't stop me anymore!

The Bad

  • I downloaded the PopSugar app on my phone but it's really glitchy. It sucks since I like reading all the PopSugar articles.
  • As much as I love cooking I dread watching cooking shows! Why you ask? Because they make me feel like a bumbling idiot with all their perfect chopping and slicing and etc. Does anyone else see it that way.
  • I love watching movies but lately there's been nothing good in the red box. Maybe you all have some recomendations for good movies on Netflix?

The Ugly

This government shut down is really a drag. Even though it doesn't affect my family on such a large scale it still gets me down to think about the people being majorly affected by it.

Note to Readers

I've been trying to post up a recipe all week but haven't really gotten the chance to. I'll try to do it the next possible chance I can. Why not today? I simply have too much to do before work and with my laptop on the fritz this week I haven't been able to schedule any posts.

On a brighter note my PopSugar Must Have box shipped yesterday! It was way sooner than I had expected and hopefully it'll arrive within the next couple of weeks! If you want to pick one up for yourself just click here and use the REFER5 code to get $5 off! If you get it before November then you can catch it before the price goes up!

Book: How to Love Italian Style

I originally picked up this book because I heard a lot of bad things about it and I wanted to see just how bad it really was. My verdict; not that bad. I really liked it even though I can't say that I agreed with everything she said.

Movie/TV Show: My Cat From Hell

I really love cats. So when this show appeared on my recommended list for Netflix I jumped at the chance to watch. The best part about this show is that in watching it I learned a lot of tips and tricks to taking care of my own kitty.
Food: Smart Food Hummus Popped Chip
One thing I really love is hummus with pita chips, so when I found this snack I was ecstatic! They were extremely delicious and even better than the pop chips I tried last week.

Beauty: Julep Nail Polish
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has noticed or if it's just me but the Julep nail polish goes on better than any nail polish I've ever used. Plus it has a kind of oat like smell(or maybe that's just me). I've never been the type to like painting my nails but I may just start.

Miscellaneous: Nook HD
When things like e-books and e-readers first came around I was really against them. I found them really impersonal and I am a person that likes to feel a book in her hands. However now that I have a nook HD I can't put it down! At first my love for it was slow coming since I had a lot of books from the library I still had to read but now that I've started using it it's hard to imagine life without it. Now if only I could take out library books on my nook...

Random Thoughts

I know I've been a bit late again with my entries this week but at least I only missed one day. That's an improvement right?

  • I think it's a bit silly for someone to complain about eating the same food all the time and then complain that you should have made something else when you make something new. Make up your mind people!
  • My laptop is really driving me crazy this week. I think it gets more messed up as the days go by.
  • It's really hard to wait for all the things lined up for this month like all the boxes, pokemon, and Halloween

SkoshBox October 2013

So on Monday I got my SkoshBox. I wasn't expecting it then since it was still September even though I knew it was supposed to come on the first week of October.
So for anyone that doesn't know SkoshBox is a subscription box that ships out in the beginning of each month. In the box you'll find little samples of Japanese candies and snacks plus a little gift.
First off I want to say I did not have very high expectations for this box because I had looked at some previous reviews for the past few months and saw that they kind of repeat a lot of snacks due to so called "popular demand". Either way I rather liked the box.

Oh and I apologize for the bad pictures. For some reason they came out all tinted pink.
Matcha Gum Pack: So one of the items I got was this green tea gum. It has a weird herby plus minty smell. It wasn't the best thing in the box but I like gum so it wasn't so bad.
Black Sesame Mochi: This was a chewy sort of candy (I suppose?). It had a sort of peanut taste, obviously, and it was okay. Again not my favorite snack in the box but it was okay. My boyfriend didn't like it at all.
Nori Wrapped Senbei: I actually think I've had this before on a smaller scale. They're basically little crackers with a piece of seaweed on it. It was pretty good and my boyfriend did actually sort of like this one.
Fizzy Soda Candy: I had gotten the pineapple and apple flavors. I tried the pineapple one and woah was this candy something new. It gets all fizzy when you put it in your mouth and both me and my boyfriend liked this one. I think what I liked more was the novelty of it since I'm pretty sure I've never tried this one before.
Endo Green Pea: These were basically fried green peas. Honestly they weren't that good. It definitely wasn't something I'd try on my own. I don't think my boyfriend liked it but I know for sure he thought it was spicy for some reason.
Nigata Rice Crackers: This didn't really stand out too much and I honestly don't remember how it tasted. I remember liking it a little bit. My boyfriend didn't like it though.
Soft Salad Senbei: These are also rice crackers but they are more puffy. They have a sort of fishy smell and taste and I really liked them. In fact if I could go to the Asian Market Place sometime soon I'd get a whole package of them. My boyfriend didn't like them though so more for me! =p
Sparkling Ball Candy: I got the apple flavored candy. There was only one but my boyfriend took a bite of it. We both agreed it was basically a lollipop. Nothing special but it was still yummy.
Ume Cracker: This is basically a cracker has pickled plum glazing on it. I have absolutely LOVED pickled plums since I was younger so this was a great treat for me. My boyfriend didn't like it though because it's a bit sour which made me very happy since I loved it.
Chocolate Puff: This was sort of like a puffy and fluffy cookie coated in chocolate. When I first opened the package it looked like it would maybe be a wafer type cookie or maybe a biscuit type cookie but it was not. With that said it was very good and me and my boyfriend really liked it. Unfortunately I got a little greedy and ate most of it. (Sorry kitty! >-<)
Hagaki: The last thing in the box was the little gift. They sent two postcards and they were really cute. I don't really want to use them at all! I'm just going to keep them forever! Maybe put them in a scrapbook maybe.

Long story short I rather liked the box even though I wasn't expecting that much out of it. I might not get it every month but maybe once and awhile. Plus the little gift was really cute! If you want to try out the SkoshBox or even just check it out then you can find it here.
